The one we may or may not have demonstrated soon is ‘Who forms the government?’ where the answer you’re supposed to give is ‘the party with the most seats in the House of Commons’. Usually, yes. Always, no.

Exactly. I seem to recall that the first Labour government in 1924 was not only a minority government, but not even the largest party.

Yeah. Say what you will about cardboard boxes, but you don’t have to worry about getting electocuted. And my tongue-in-cheek post aside, it does sound like you’ve been horribly unlucky (housing is kind of a must have item) and I hope you get it sorted soon.

Foxton’s might just have picked on the wrong guy.

The ‘correct’ answers to test have some errors in it as well.

Many of the ‘How the United Kingdom is governed’ questions require an essay rather than a ticky box to answer correctly.

If you want another ‘who cares’ question 98% of the population would get wrong, try “How [do the ages of compulsory education] differ in Northern Ireland?”

I know, I know. We’d booked in the builders and hired a flat to live in while they tore out our kitchen and loo. Then we lost confidence in the builders and booked different builders, who couldn’t start until later. So we lost the short-term let. So I found myself with about 96 hours to find a two-bedroom flat close to the baby’s creche and the old flat, and I tried *everything* before I tried Foxton’s. It was that or homelessness. At the time, I thought renting through Foxton’s would be preferable to sleeping rough with a toddler. Now I’m not so sure.
